En la administración local e industrial de los recursos hídricos se utilizan sensores de presión electrónicos para medir los niveles de llenado, por ejemplo. En este caso los materiales deben cumplir ciertos requisitos especiales. Han de ser resistentes frente a los medios corrosivos y a la carga mecánica.
